Netflix for Yogi's - Our Top Ten Best Things To Watch July 2018

It's Friday night, you've just finished a beautiful yin yoga class to end the week and you want to vege out on the couch - we got you! Here we've compiled a list of the best things to watch on Netflix for yogi's! So put on some comfy pants...oh wait, you're probably already wearing your yoga pants, make a big pot of chai and some moringa popcorn and enjoy the show!

1. NANETTE - Hannah Gadsby

Honest, articulate, intelligent, open and real are words that come to mind after watching this intense yet inspiring comedy set. Hannah speaks beautifully about connection, about connecting through love, not anger. An emotionally inspiring story.

2. INNSÆI – THE POWER OF INTUITION

Do you find it hard to find work/life balance? Do you feel on the verge of a breakdown? Then you need to stop, take a breath and watch this documentary. Awaken your intuition and bring awareness to the here and now. A highlight for me was the interview with Marina Abramovic. So much so, that I followed this up by watching The Artist Is Present (which I believe is on Netflix in the U.S) and A Space Between. I highly recommend both documentaries on this inspiring artist.

3. Iris

Iris Apfel, the rare bird of fashion, is a shining example of how to live your life to the full! Fearless not just in fashion but in life! I love her! Her joyous celebration of life is so inspiring, you'll spend the whole movie with a smile on your face.

4. Ram Dass, Going Home

This is a story of friendship between two very different, yet awakened souls; Timothy Leary and Ram Dass; a friendship that remained steadfast despite their very different journeys in life. "The gift you offer another person is just your being." Ram Dass.

5. Lunchbox

We had to throw in a little bit of easy, feel-good entertainment, and Lunchbox is exactly that. I am so drawn to India, the birth place of yoga that I love watching films that share the culture and traditions! I especially loved this quote from the movie, "sometimes the wrong train will get you to the right station."

6. Naga, The Eternal Yogi

If you need a reminder that yoga is more than the westernised version of handstands in a bikini watch this. Take your yoga practice to the next level with this study of yoga and it's origins.

7. Wild Wild Country

If you're in a need of a good binge-worth series, look no further. I was very familiar with many of Osho's quotes but not of the controversy surrounding his life.

“Take hold of your own life.
See that the whole existence is celebrating.
These trees are not serious, these birds are not serious.
The rivers and the oceans are wild,
and everywhere there is fun,
everywhere there is joy and delight.
Watch existence,
listen to the existence and become part of it.”

8. Cosmos: A Spacetime Odessy

After listening to an interview with the charming Neil deGrasse Tyson (listen to it here), I am totally hooked on this series. For those days, when you're a little distracted by trivial everyday matters, Cosmos helps to give a little perspective and reminds us of how incredible the universe is!

9. Planet Earth 2

This was highly recommended to me this week and it did not disappoint! Nature is so flipping amazing! This world is so full of wonder, as yogis, nay, as humans, it is our duty to take care of this Earth and its inhabitants.

10. Frida

In celebration of the Mexican artists 111th birthday yesterday, and because her strength and resilience is an ongoing celebration, we had to add this to the list! Plus her wardrobe is enviable!!!
